It currently has a September-October time frame but is willing to change this if the International Rugby Board (IRB) feels a mid-winter tournament is in the best
interests of the game.
New Zealand's rival World Cup bidders South Africa and Japan have joined
northern unions in supporting the mid-year date.
The IRB was due to discuss the issue this week.
NZRU chairman Jock Hobbs said a World Cup in June-July would create obvious changes in the All Blacks' international schedule, but that was not cause for concern.
