WIMBLEDON SERVES UP RECORD

Wimbledon’s official website scored a record number of hits for the 2005 tournament.

The www.wimbledon.org site received more than 29 million visits - the highest since it launched a decade ago and a 37 per cent increase from last year.

The site - designed, managed and hosted by IBM, the official information technology supplier to The All England Lawn Tennis Club - included an on demand scoreboard, featuring a ‘Shot Tracker’ that followed play as it happened and provided fans with a graphic animation of ball movement.

More than 4.5 million on demand scoreboards were downloaded, while the average amount of time each viewer spent on the site increased to nearly two hours.
