The new offering presents international programmers – particularly programmers from Africa and Asia – with the opportunity to reach a significant number of foreign nationals from those regions living in Europe.
The platform will initially support 12 or more digital channels, and is set to expand as the expected international TV community develops.
Intelsat will host the DTH platform on its Intelsat 905 satellite, while GlobeCast will provide uplink, multiplex and conditional access services from Europe.
The platform supports free-to-air and subscription channels, allowing programmers to reach home audiences via antennas as small as 60cm.
