2012 BID NEWS: ROGGE URGES CITIES NOT TO QUIT

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge has appealed to the four cities that lost out in the 2012 Olympics race to not quit and try again.

London, one of the frontrunners behind Paris, emerged victorious today (Wednesday) in Singapore.

"The election of the host city for the 2012 Games will not be easy in view of the very high quality of the candidates," Rogge said at the Opening Ceremony of the 117th IOC Session.

"Four cities will, of course, be deeply disappointed, but they should know that a candidature, even if it is not selected, leaves a tangible legacy.

"In view of their assets and qualities, we would, of course, be very pleased to see at future elections the cities not chosen now as the host city."

Rogge said the quality of the bids from all the losing cities would give them an excellent chance in future bidding, reported aroundtherings.com
