CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RIGHTS DEALS AGREED FOR ITALY

RAI has secured the free-to-air rights in Italy for the UEFA Champions League in seasons 2006 to 2009, with pay-TV rights shared between Sky Italia and Mediaset.

RAI will show the first choice match every Wednesday and highlights programmes on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Sky Italia will show all matches live, while Mediaset can broadcast all matches simultaneously on its DTT platform.

It is the first time RAI has ventured into UEFA Champions League. Until now Mediaset has held the free-to-air rights, with Sky Italia holding the pay-TV rights.
