2012 BID NEWS: NEW YORK SECURES APPROVAL

New York’s bid to stage the 2012 Olympic Games has been officially approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), removing fears its revised stadium plans could lead to its withdrawal.

The IOC has formally accepted the bids from each of the five candidate cities hoping to stage the Games.

The long-awaited vote takes place in Singapore on Wednesday.

The City State is now a hive of activity with much of the world’s media being joined by a number of big-hitters in a show of support for all five cities.
