Some 100 IOC members are eligible to vote in the first round, so the number of waverers only adds to the unpredictably of a race that has already being described as ‘too close to call’.
According to the UK’s Daily Telegraph, it means that one of the favourites (with Paris, London and Madrid expected to make the running) could go out in the first round of Wednesday’s voting.
Some high-profile names will be present in Singapore to back their city’s bids.
French President Jacques Chirac and British Prime Minister Tony Blair will be in attendance, while New York will enjoy support from Senator Hillary Clinton and sporting superstar Muhammad Ali.
Queen Sofia of Spain and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero are also in Singapore, along with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov.
