ICC BARS US CRICKET ASSOCIATION FROM MEETINGS

Tagged in &

America’s cricket association, the USACA, will not be able to attend the International Cricket Council’s Associate’s meeting on Sunday and the following ICC Conference.

ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed says that unless the dispute over who controls cricket in the USA is settled, no party will be recognised by the ICC.

In a letter to US cricket officials, Speed wrote: “Regrettably, despite having had three months in which to resolve these matters, you seem to be no closer to doing so.”

In March elections two groups tried to claim control of USACA.

Earlier, the ICC had suspended a development scheme called Project USA after strongly criticising the governance of USACA.
With the row over who controls the body ongoing, the ICC stepped in and offered its Disputes Resolution Committee to settle it.

Speed also made it clear that funding for USACA will continue to be withheld.

However, the national team is still expected to be granted permission to play in next month's ICC Trophy in Ireland.
