The video clips service is being produced by TWI’s interactive division exclusively for Idea customers and will include daily preview clips, match highlights, player interviews, a round-up of each day’s play and archive footage.
Subscribers will also be able to download the Wimbledon ringtone, the official Wimbledon Java game, receive match alerts and take part in a competition to win tickets to travel to the UK and watch the tournament court-side, via GPRS, SMS and Voice.
Ravi Krishnan, managing director - IMG/TWI, South Asia and senior vice president IMG, said: “This is in line with our commitment to extend brand Wimbledon beyond its existing format without losing the focus of aggregating relevant newer audiences. Idea Cellular will help us to take Wimbledon 2005 to the masses who are on the move and thus capture new audiences outside the realm of traditional TV viewing.”
Robert McCowen, marketing director of The All England Lawn Tennis Club, said: “We believe that this initiative will bring sports enthusiasts closer and create a stronger patronage for Wimbledon Championships.”
