The Nine Network is expected to announce it has secured the 2007 World Cup broadcasting rights, sharing them with Fox Sports in Australia, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
The tournament will be played in France and will be beamed to Australia between 11pm and 6am.
Previous World Cups have been broadcast by the Seven Network, which last week announced it had signed a five-year deal to telecast Australia's domestic Tests and Tri Nations internationals until 2010.
Australian Rugby Union officials are putting pressure on Seven to broadcast each Test match live nationally.
The revamped Super 14 tournament will remain on pay-TV.
