TWI, the maker of Trans World Sport, has made it into the top British Exports league table.

The independent production company has been recognised by industry body Pact as one of the biggest contributors to the foreign exports market with three entries in the top 20.

The Pact figures, collated independently by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), showed that Trans World Sport made it into the Top 10, notching up an impressive 131 countries.

And weekly soccer magazine Futbol Mundial reached number 18, with 103 territories.

The company’s non-sports programmes were also recognised. Miss World, produced and distributed by TWI last December, was the UK’s fourth-highest performer

Alastair Waddington, senior vice president, production and business development, said: "After 19 years, Trans World Sport is still not only going strong, but reaches a global audience of 260 million households.

"And this success is replicated right throughout the company's programme portfolio, which, having begun exclusively with sports programmes, is now rapidly expanding and enjoying success in other genres such as entertainment and factual.

“This summer, we'll also be making The All-Star Cup for Sky One - a star-studded golfing tournament, featuring non-playing captains Colin Montgomerie and Mark O'Meara. The show is the perfect marriage of sport and entertainment and TWI has been in the unique position of being able to secure an incredible raft of A-listers to take part."
