2012 BID NEWS: MOSCOW BOASTS STRONG SUPPORT

As many as 95 per cent of Russians want the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to be staged in Moscow, according to a new survey.

The research was carried out in two parts – one surveyed more than 5,000 mobile phone users to which 95 per cent of respondents answered “yes” when asked: “Do you want the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in Moscow?”

The other research was conducted online – and 80 per cent of Internet respondents backed Moscow’s bid.

The mobile phone survey was organised by leading Russian mobile phone company INFON in cooperation with ROMIR Monitoring Research Centre, the exclusive representative of Gallup International in Russia.

The online survey was conducted by ROMIR Monitoring.

The data was collected from April 18 to May 3.
