TRAVELEX SIGNS WILKINSON

Travelex, the world’s largest foreign exchange specialist, has signed England rugby international Jonny Wilkinson as a brand ambassador.

England’s World Cup winner, who last week was called up to join this summer’s Lions touring party to New Zealand, has signed a two-year seven-figure deal which will see him work on a number of projects.

The first of these will be a starring role in Travelex’s first ever television advertising campaign.

The adverts will be screened during the summer and focus on Wilkinson’s competitive edge. Featuring the strapline ‘We hate to be beaten’, the campaign will be used to promote Travelex’s Price Promise that guarantees customers the best price across the UK on their travel money or a refund of the difference.

The appointment is part of Travelex’s ongoing brand ambassador programme that saw vice captain of the Australian cricket team, Adam Gilchrist, appointed in 2003. A third ambassador, to support Travelex’s business in the Americas, will be added to the programme later this year.

For Wilkinson, it adds to lucrative contracts with Hackett, Adidas and Lucozade.
