SPECSAVERS FOCUS ON CELEBRITY SOCCER TOURNAMENT

Specsavers Opticians will be main sponsor of the Music Industry Soccer Six tournament, taking place at West Ham United’s Upton Park on May 22.

The tournament will see all 12 men’s teams carry the optical retailer’s logo across their chests whilst the six women’s teams will be refereed by Specsavers-sponsored special guests.

Celebrities already confirmed include Chris Evans, Paul Gascoigne, Angus Deayton, Michelle Heaton and Michelle Marsh, plus models Jakki Degg and Leilani who is currently appearing on ITV’s ‘Celebrity Wrestling’.

The deal was negotiated by Specsavers’ international sponsorship consultancy MEC:Sponsorship and was based on the value of the exposure the tournament has produced in previous years.

Andrew Molle, marketing director of Specsavers, said: “The fusing of music, celebrity and football provides us with an excellent platform to communicate with a mass and varied audience.”

Mark Abery, managing director of Cup, organisers of the tournament, said: “Soccer Six is the number one celebrity football tournament and the only celebrity event that delivers 160 celebrities in one place on one day. This gives our sponsors excellent value and exposure.”
