Sport England has invested around £45million of National Lottery and exchequer funding into disability sports projects over the last 10 years, including the Inclusive Fitness Initiative which aims to improve access to community fitness facilities.
Roger Draper, Sport England Chief Executive, said: "We are delighted that this year's inaugural Paralympic World Cup will utilise many of the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games facilities - providing yet another example of the legacy of the Games and Sport England's investment.
“We look forward to seeing many of our Athens heroes in action on home soil, as well as the emergence of future stars, many of whom will be competing at next year's Commonwealth Games in Melbourne."
