ANAHEIM UNVEILS NFL STADIUM PLANS

The city of Anaheim has set out plans to host an NFL franchise on the Angel Stadium parking lot in three years’ time.

It hopes to have a 70,500-seat state-of-the-art stadium in place to host NFL games in 2008, reports USATODAY.com

Anaheim is one of four sites in the greater Los Angeles area being considered for an NFL franchise. The others are the Los Angeles Coliseum, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and a proposed stadium in Carson.

The Angel Stadium and the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim currently hosts home games for the NHL's Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Basketball is also played there.

One shortcoming of the Anaheim site is said to be the cost of property in the area, with the city perhaps favouring other uses for the land.
