2012 BID NEWS: PARIS STILL FAVOURITE DESPITE LONDON SURGE

Paris remains favourite to land the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, with London showing the biggest gain according to recent analysis.

GamesBids.com has released the latest update to its BidIndex, which takes into account the candidate cities’ bid books as well as unfolding events and information.

Paris is out in front with a score of 65.88, down 0.63 from the last update. London shows the most marked gain, up 2.32 to 63.40.

Madrid is off 0.80 to 61.11, with security fears said to be hampering the bid, while New York has increased 0.73 to 59.62.

Moscow’s bid fell 0.51 to 49.77, making it the rank outsider.

The next BidIndex update is expected after the June 6 release of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) evaluation report.

BidIndex is a model developed by statisticians and bid experts at GamesBids.com, and is comprised of more than 100 critical fundamentals and information obtained from experts and Olympic insiders.

It is not intended to rate or rank the bids based on technical quality, but on how the bids will perform based on IOC statistical voting patterns. History has shown the best technical bids often do not win but other - often political - factors usually have a significant impact.
