The one-day race over a 55-mile course round The Isle of Wight will be held this year on Saturday June 18, when more than 1,600 yachts are expected to go to the start line, making it the UK's third highest participatory event after the London Marathon and the Great North Run.
Working in close collaboration with British Telecom, EPI TV will satellite regular updated reports as the fleet circumnavigates the Island, culminating in a 26-minute documentary to be seen globally.
Rebecca Farquhar, PR manager, Sledge Limited, says: "This is an outstanding opportunity to bring what is possibly the world's biggest yacht race in to the spotlight it deserves. This spectacular event is open to all comers - amateur and professional - and is a unique opportunity for the weekend sailor to compete alongside top professionals.”
Neil Mallard, EPI, says: “Having pioneered TV news coverage of The Americas Cup, Admirals Cup, Sardinia Cup and Whitbread Round the World Race, I am confident that our comprehensive coverage of The Round the Island race will make this a "must have" in the world of television.”
