The London-based company aims to offer fans unrivalled access to their sporting legends via a state-of-the-art interactive website and a series of unique consumer events.
A British-based team of investors has delivered funding in excess of £10million, with Nobok hoping to become the number one player in the global sports nostalgia market.
Becker joins British soccer great, Sir Bobby Robson, who is the leading ambassador for Nobok UK.
The winner of six Grand Slam titles has been contracted to supply exclusive content for Nobok’s website, meet fans face-to-face at unique Nobok events and provide personalised tennis memorabilia for live on-line auctions.
Martin Johnson, England’s World Cup winning rugby captain, and Newcastle striker Alan Shearer, have also announced their involvement and are set to be joined by other global stars over the coming weeks.
Becker said: “Nobok is an exciting new company that, for the first time, will allow true sports fans the chance to have direct interaction with their sporting heroes. The sports industry would not be what it is today without the dedication of the fans and this is a great opportunity for me to give something back in recognition of all the support I have received over the years.”
Nobok launches in the UK this month and will initially focus on six core sports: football, Rugby Union, cricket, Formula One, tennis and golf with plans to extend the offering into other sports as the brand develops.
A US launch is planned for late 2005 when Nobok’s activities will focus on NBA, NFL, NHL, tennis, golf and NASCAR, followed by further launches in Asia, South America and Europe.
