PAKISTAN OUTLINE ENGLAND PLANS

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has avoided scheduling matches close to the Afghan border for security reasons in a proposed itinerary for England's tour sent to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The provisional schedule lasts from October 25 to December 22 this year, and includes three Tests in Karachi, Faisalabad and Lahore.

There would also be one-day internationals at Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi with no matches will be played at Peshawar or Quetta.

The ECB has not yet made any special requests but is expected to carry out further security checks.

West Indies and Australia refused to tour Pakistan in 2002 because of security concerns. New Zealand returned home in May that year after a suicide bomb attack outside their Karachi hotel killed 14 people just before the second Test.

New Zealand and South Africa declined to play in Karachi and Peshawar in 2003, while last year India also refused to play a Test in Karachi but agreed to play one-day matches there and in Peshawar.
