Reykjavik-based Stoke Holdings have had a majority 60 per cent stake in the club since November 1999 but say selling up could take more than a year to complete, reports the BBC.
Earlier this week, the consortium's chairman Magnus Kristinsson said he would not give the club any money while Tony Pulis remained Potters boss.
But club chairman Gunnar Gislason said Pulis continued to have the full support of the directors.
He added that Stoke Holdings had indicated that potential buyers must demonstrate sufficient financial strength to continue to improve the club.
