ROGGE URGES US SPORTS TO ADOPT OLYMPIC ANTI DOPE STANDARDS

Tagged in

IOC president Jacques Rogge has urged US professional sport to adopt Olympic rules for drug testing and penalties.

Rogge compared 10-day bans given to two baseball players with the much-tougher sanctions imposed for similar offences by the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada).

"We see steps in the right direction, but they are very timid and should go further," he said.
"I hope that in time the professional leagues will follow the Wada rules. That is the way to get credibility."
