SportAccord, which runs from April 16-20 in Berlin, has more than 30 IOC members in attendance and provides the perfect platform for a final push for votes ahead of July’s crunch meeting in Singapore where the venue will finally be selected.
High-powered delegations from New York, London, Paris, Madrid and Moscow were all keeping a high-profile, and yesterday delivered 10-minute presentations to the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations.
Dan Doctoroff, bid leader for the New York bid, said: “SportAccord is the largest gathering of IOC members and leaders of international federations that there will be between now and Singapore. It's a very important milestone and test."
The start of this year’s SportAccord was marked by a flurry of media interest as the five cities bidding for the 2012 Olympic Games touched down for five days of frantic campaigning.
