SportAccord brings together representatives from the 100 International Sports Federations affiliated to GAISF, ASOIF and AIOWF (Association of the International Olympic Winter Sports Federations), as well as the International Olympic Committee Executive Board and sponsors, architects, sports lawyers, broadcasters and other specialists to discuss the key issues facing the sports industry.
The SportAccord conference programme begins at 9am on Monday 18th with an open media workshop hosted by the World Games Duisburg 2005.
The welcoming speeches at the Official Opening in the auditorium will be made by Acting GAISF President, Hein Verbruggen, and Otto Schily, Germany’s Federal Minister of the Interior, responsible for sport.
A case study on Germany and the FIFA World Cup 2006 will follow. The question of how to finance major events dominates the conference discussions Monday afternoon, before a drinks reception sponsored by AON Ltd.
Case studies and panel sessions on themes such as brands in sports, media rights, betting in sports and others will feature in the conference through Tuesday 19th while the exhibition presents stands from bidding and host cities, broadcasters, architects and suppliers to the sport industry. In the afternoon, for the first time the GAISF Media Forum will be open to delegates. The Contemporary Group sponsors the closing drinks reception. The final closing dinner brings together all speakers and exhibitors of SportAccord 2005.
