GUARD DROPS NAMING RIGHTS DEAL

The National Guard has reportedly pulled the plug on plans to snap up the naming rights to Washington’s Robert F Kennedy Stadium.

It had been on the verge of signing a $6m deal for the rights to the venue which hosts games by Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals.
But it is believed to have backed out of negotiations after political pressure was applied amid concerns over such an investment being made while US forces were at war in Iraq.
