After an initial set of pay broadcast rights in the Netherlands were awarded to UPC, broadcasters were invited to submit further offers for the remaining packages in a second round of bidding.
UEFA said the process resulted in “fierce competition” and after “careful consideration” it opted for NOS. The public broadcaster will show two live games per match week, one on Tuesday and one on Wednesday when they will also screen a highlights programme.
NOS has been the free-to-air broadcaster of Champions League matches in the Netherlands since the start of the competition.
In addition, UPC has been awarded exclusive rights for the Tuesday highlights programmes.
