POLISH SPEEDWAY DEAL

Poland’s national terrestrial broadcaster, TVP, has signed a two-year agreement with rights holder BSI for highlights of the world championship FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series (SGP).

Exclusive live coverage of the event will continue to be broadcast on the country’s leading pay-TV network, Canal+.

The deal means TVP will broadcast delayed highlights of every round of the series in 2005 and 2006 on a Saturday evening after each event.

John Postlethwaite, chief executive at BSI, said: “Speedway is one of Poland’s leading sports and with two sell-out events and three Polish riders competing for the World Championship we expect interest in the Grand Prix to continue to grow.”

The first event of the nine-round 2005 series begins on April 30 with the FIM European Speedway Grand Prix at the Olympic Stadium, Wroclaw, Poland.
