American football's 2010 championship showpiece would be set in the proposed $1.7billion retractable roof stadium on Manhattan's West Side, the prospective future home of the NFL's New York Jets, reports the New York Daily News.
NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue will announce the Super Bowl site next week, the newspaper said.
The Jets asked that voting on the 2010 site be advanced from June to next week. Monday is the deadline for bids upon the property, which is owned by the Metropolitan Transit Authority.
The Jets face a rival bid from the owners of Madison Square Garden, and several other groups have said they might make offers on the property.
The NFL move could bolster the chances of the controversial facility even being built and help with final legislative approval, solving a major headache in New York's bid to stage the 2012 Summer and Paralympic Games.
