Morgan will be supported by board directors Andy Sutherden and Theo Chapman.
Sutherden is to take more of a lead in the day-to-day running of the UK business while Chapman will help to develop Hill & Knowlton’s sponsorship consultancy across the EMEA region, with a particular focus on the business opportunities in the Middle East.
For Morgan his appointment marks a return not only to the agency, which he left in 1997, but also to its sports marketing & sponsorship division, and to the Olympic arena.
When at Hill & Knowlton previously he worked on the successful Athens Olympic bid. Hill & Knowlton are currently working on London’s bid for the 2012 games.
Until recently Morgan was president of the European arm of leading international sports and entertainment sponsorship consultancy the Gem Group (formerly Craigie Taylor International).
Morgan left Hill & Knowlton in 1997 to head up the sports division of Craigie Taylor International. In 1998 he set up and managed the company’s Edinburgh office with former British Lions and Scotland rugby captain Gavin Hastings.
In 2001 Morgan was appointed deputy managing director of Craigie Taylor International and played an integral part in building and developing the client base for the company, and its subsequent acquisition by CSS Stellar plc in 2002 and the merger with GEM Group.
