The joint venture will see Premierscores’ unique mobile live score alerts service placed in an area of 4thegame called ‘Mobile Zone’.
This service turns mobiles, that are java-enabled with a GPRS connection, into a wireless soccer centre retrieving the latest live scores and information from the Premier League, Championship, FA Cup, Carling Cup, UEFA Cup, Champions League and other domestic leagues.
It enables mobile users to be in control of what information they receive and for how long they want the service - unlike most traditional SMS text alerts, they are not committed for a whole season.
Premierscores live score alerts uses a GPRS link rather than a phone link resulting in a faster, cheaper service than standard SMS and WAP alerts. It also offers greater flexibility by allowing mobile users to select all league matches played that day or to just keep track of the games played in a league or cup that are of interest.
Fred Olsson, of Premierscores.com, said: “Using java we have created a user experience that is superior to existing wap and sms text technologies available today. Premierscores and similar java-based livescore applications that fully utlilise the capacity of today’s mobile phones will be the future of the mobile market for sports and entertainment.”
The 4thegame/premierscores service will be available to all 4thegame users for an introductory end of season offer priced at a special rate of £6. The service will then be promoted during the summer months and launch in full for the 2005-2006 season.
