NAVRATILOVA SUES CREDIT CARD FIRM

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova is suing the sponsor of a credit card directly marketed to gays and lesbians.

She wants at least $75,000 in damages because, she claims, the Rainbow Card continued to use her name and likeness after she had told them to stop.

Navratilova had happily been used to market the card, which has helped fund a gay and lesbian health and social well-being group since 1995. But US press reports say that last year she found herself at odds with the card’s marketing programme, calling it inappropriate and repugnant.

Navratilova is a nine-time Wimbledon champion and winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles. She has won a record 167 singles titles and 40 Grand Slam doubles titles.
