SKY FIRST FOR BRITISH RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

Sky Sports will broadcast the British Rally Championship for the first time, throughout the 2005 season.

Each of the eight rounds of the Kwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally championship will be shown in a highlights programme broadcast in prime-time, at 7pm, on the Monday following each round.

Coverage starts with a season preview, from the BRC Promo Day at Nuneaton, on Monday, April 11 and will conclude with coverage of the South of England Tempest Rally on Monday, November 7.

Announcing the coverage, Sue Ashworth of Sky Sports, said: “The British Rally Championship is the breeding ground for young talent, with past winners including Colin McRae, Ari Vatanen and Richard Burns. The challenging UK courses will push drivers to their limits and produce some fascinating contests for viewers.”

Action will be captured via on-board cameras from the top 12 cars and a number of kerb cameras mounted at strategic positions throughout the stage, designed to obtain spectacular shots from the gravel and tarmac courses in addition to stage-side cameras.

Sky Sports’ portfolio of motorsport events includes live coverage of the infamous Indianapolis 500, Indy Car Series, Elite League Speedway, World Championship Speedway and British Superbikes.

The inaugural A1 Grand Prix series takes place later this year exclusively live on Sky Sports.
