INPUT IN DUAL RECRUITMENT

Richard Markell is joining sports production company, the Input Group, as its head of business development, while Mike Inman has been named executive producer.

A founder member of English Markell Pockett before forming the Red Pepper design company, Markell joins Input in March. Markell-ID, his current design and branding agency, will operate as a division of the Input Group of companies.

Markell’s brief is to develop all areas of Input’s business including broadcast and corporate production, branding and the marketing of the company’s extensive facilities.

Said Markell: “The [Input Group] has grown over the last 12 years from a fledgling boutique post house to a major player in the independent sports production market.”

Meanwhile Inman, former executive producer for sport at Carlton, had a career at ITV that spanned 30 years. For the last 10 years he has had an executive role in ITV Sport’s soccer production.

He is a veteran of five soccer World Cup tournaments and had a senior role in the Host Broadcaster production of the tournament in Japan and Korea, 2002.

David Wood, Input’s managing director, said: “As well as developing new projects his involvement with our UEFA Champions League and Chelsea TV contracts will have a very positive effect.”

Wood and Inman have been involved in the development and use of disc recorder technology in the production and studio analysis of ITV’s network and regional football coverage, since their introduction for the Euro 96 tournament.
