INDIAN CRICKET'S TV DISPUTE NOT THREATENING TOUR

Tagged in , &

The India-Pakistan Test series looks to have been salvaged after a Madras court acted to end a TV rights dispute.

The BBC reports that the city's High Court said it would issue interim orders to ensure the matches could be shown on live TV, a requirement in official cricket.

Three Tests and six limited-over matches – which would be watched by millions - are due to start on March 8 and it would be Pakistan's first Test tour of India in six years.

State-owned TV channel Doordarshan will carry domestic broadcasts, with the Indian board choosing a producer.

The row began when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) backed out of a four-year, $308million (£161million) deal with Zee after a court challenge by rival ESPN-Star Sports.

The judge said a ruling on the main dispute will have to wait until later and prohibited the BCCI from hiring either Zee or ESPN-Star Sports for the production.
