2012 BID NEWS: MOSCOW TO MASS PRODUCE PRE-FAB HOTELS

A lack of affordable hotel rooms has led to Moscow deciding to build a number of pre-fabricated hotels in bulk.

Moscow’s Deputy Mayor Vladimir Resin, who is responsible for construction, said some planned apartment blocks have been redesigned as a two or three-star hotels, reports GamesBids.com

Officials have said there is a need to double the number of hotel rooms in the city, for the bid to be successful.

The pre-fabricated design should allow the bid’s backers to save time and resources by developing no-frills, two-star-type hotels.

It is said to take between six and eight months to build an apartment block-type hotel.
