ORENDER SET FOR WNBA PRESIDENCY

NBA Commissioner David Stern is expected to name Donna Orender as president of the WNBA, reports USA TODAY.

Orender, the PGA Tour's senior vice president for strategic development, would replace Val Ackerman.

Ackerman said she would officially step down on February 1 but has continued in the role to give the league time to name a replacement.

Orender, who has worked with the PGA for 17 years, was an All-American basketball player for Queens College in New York. She was also an All-Star in the Women's Professional Basketball League, a precursor to the WNBA from 1979-81.
