FRANCE PLAYS DOWN NFL LINK

Brian France insists he has no plans to leave his job as NASCAR's chairman and CEO in the foreseeable future.

There had been speculation about France possibly leaving his job to try to bring an NFL franchise to Los Angeles, but he denied having plans to take up ownership of any franchise.

Nevertheless, the 42-year-old does not necessarily see himself making the family business his life's work, as it was for his late grandfather and father. But he claims his interest in other sports, both from a business perspective and as a fan, has been misconstrued.

According to USA TODAY reports, France says his interest in NASCAR is emotional as well as economic.

He is leading several long-term projects, including that of making it easier for small-budget teams to compete with the bigger ones.
