CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RIGHTS SALES KICK OFF

UEFA has begun sales of broadcast rights to soccer’s UEFA Champions League for the 2006-2009 seasons.

The sales will be conducted on a market-by-market basis on UEFA's behalf by TEAM Marketing AG, UEFA's exclusive marketing agent for the exploitation of broadcast and other commercial rights relating to the UEFA Champions League.

In all EU and EEA countries, the sales process will reflect the basic principles and structure of packaging agreed between UEFA and the European Commission, and already implemented for UEFA Champions League broadcast rights exploitation in the 2003-2006 period.

A key objective is said to be the provision of maximum flexibility of choice for broadcasters while allowing the rights to be divided so as to allow a wide range of possible applicants.

The first countries approached were Belgium and Holland, where an Invitation to Submit an Offer (“ISO”) document was available from February 9.

Other countries will be approached over the next few months in accordance with a schedule to be advised by UEFA in due course and published on www.uefa.com.
