2012 BID NEWS: MADRID CAR BOMB COULD HIT BID

Tagged in &

Wednesday’s car bomb outside Madrid’s main convention centre could dent the city’s hopes of hosting the 2012 Olympic Games.

Just days after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission ended its inspection, the car bomb injured 39 people following a warning from the Basque separatist group ETA.

If Madrid hosts the 2012 Summer Olympic Games a number of events would be held at the convention centre, reports GamesBids.com

It was the worst blast in Madrid since last year’s March 11 train bombing.

There is speculation that the attack could erase any hope that ETA might declare a truce before Basque elections in April.
