ROWING CHALLENGE FOR TRIMEDIA

The 2006 World Rowing Championships Organising Committee has appointed Trimedia, the sponsorship, PR and events consultancy, to drive forward a range of commercial partnerships.

Following Olympic success on the water, the Amateur Rowing Association, rowing’s governing body in the UK, has won the right to stage the 2006 World Rowing Championships (WRC) on Dorney Lake in Eton, Windsor in August 2006.

As part of the build up to the Championships and to trial the facilities for the main event, the first regatta in the 2005 Rowing World Cup series is also being hosted on the Eton course, in May 2005.

UK Sport has also committed £1.5million to support the two events.

The BearingPoint Rowing World Cup in May 2005 will be the only international event in a major Olympic sport to be staged in the UK between now and the decision on the 2012 bids, which takes place six weeks later.

Michael Baldwin, chairman of the Organising Committee, said: "It's been a long time since British rowers have been able to compete at this level on a world stage in front of a home crowd. This event will provide a wonderful event for competitors, spectators and sponsors. Our thanks go to UK Sport for making this possible".

Trimedia's Managing Director Omar Khan said: "We are delighted to be involved with the Amateur Rowing Association at a boom time for the sport here in the UK and we are convinced that we will be able to offer sponsors and partners clean and uncluttered branding opportunities on a truly global platform.
