To be re-named Doha 2006 in honour of her sponsors, the yacht is one of the fastest sailing vessels in the world, having broken the 24-hour speed record in 694.78 nautical miles.
Skippered by Brian Thompson, Doha 2006 will compete against David Scully's Cheyenne, Tony Bullimore's Daedalus and Olivier de Kersauson's Geronimo.
DAGOC - established in 2000 and chaired by the Heir Apparent of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani - is responsible for the planning, overseeing, and executing all the elements of the Asian Games Doha 2006.
A budget of $2.8 billion is being invested to turn the region's sporting capital, Doha, into one of the most modern sporting cities in the world.
The Asian Games is the second largest international sporting event after the Summer Olympic Games. It brings together countries from all over Asia and consists of some sports not very well known on an international level.
"Oryx Quest 2005 is a world first and epitomises the spirit of internationalism and teamwork that is so much a part of sport today," said Mr Abdullah Khalid Al Qahtani, director general of DAGOC.
"We are delighted to be able to further these aims by supporting this beautiful yacht and ensuring she will become Qatar's ambassador on the high seas."
