According to the suit, Brady signed a contract with GM in July 2003, agreeing to autograph merchandise, make personal appearances on behalf of the company and do ads for a number of Cadillac dealerships.
But the agreement expired on January 1, 2004 and Brady alleges that on January 30, 2004, GM asked to use a print ad featuring his name and photograph in connection with that year's Super Bowl, reports the Associated Press.
Brady denied the request twice, according to the suit, but GM was said to twice place the ad in The Boston Globe.
A spokesman for the company said they were involved in trying to settle the dispute, admitting it was an honest mistake but that Brady's agents were seeking more than 20 times the amount paid for the likeness over an entire season.
