Innsbruck, host of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Games, was runner-up. The Executive Committee of the Austrian NOC heard from the two candidates last month and since then has been deciding which of the two to choose.
The only other certain bidder for 2014 is Ostersund/Aare in Sweden.
The German Olympic Committee is considering a bid from Munich while Sofia, Bulgaria may also enter the race, reports aroundtherings.com
