SANTA MONICA WIN SPANISH TV RIGHTS

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has handed over management of its TV rights to the Madrid-based company Grupo Santa Monica.

The deal, which runs until 2010, is an extension of the current agreement that has seen Grupo Santa Monica manage the federation’s marketing rights since 1996.

It means that state-owned broadcaster Television EspaC1ola (TVE) will continue to show all national team games played on Spanish soil and all away friendlies.

The naming of Santa Monica is seen as a key part of the RFEF’s strategy to exploit the image of the national team to the full, both in Spain and in international markets.
