AMUNDSEN OSLO ON TIME FOR ORYX QUEST 2005

Amundsen Oslo is to provide timekeeping equipment and the Amundsen Trophy for world's fastest offshore yachting race.

The Norwegian watch brand will be official timekeeper of the world's first non-stop around-the-globe sailing race starting and finishing in the Middle East.

The company will supply custom-made timekeeping equipment to the Oryx Quest racing committee, and the Amundsen Trophy will be awarded to the first yacht to pass 163B0 west longitude - the Amundsen Gate.

Said Jorgen Amundsen, Founder and President of Amundsen Oslo and a relative of the late Roald Amundsen. "With our proven track-record of creating high-quality timepieces for pioneers in polar expeditions, the Oryx Quest offers us an opportunity to subject our products to the rigorous demands of the yachting industry. We are very excited to be the official timekeeper for this inspirational race."

Amundsen Oslo has an agreement with the World Sailing Speed Record Council to provide trophies for the non-stop solo round-the-world records from both east to west and west to east.
