2012 BID NEWS: QUEEN SET TO HOST INSPECTORS

Queen Elizabeth will play host to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission in February, subject to IOC approval.

One London 2012 executive said it should put to rest doubts that the Queen is lukewarm about the bid or that the Royal Family is a liability, even though Princess Anne serves as England’s senior IOC member, reports aroundtherings.com.

The Queen is reported to have said during a private conversation that Paris should get the Games, as it enjoyed greater local support than the London bid.

The evening event at Buckingham Palace would be the one protocol event the bid cities are allowed to host for the IOC commission. Traditionally bid cities will invite the head of state and other prominent personalities from politics, business and sport to attend.

The IOC commission launches its five-city tour in Madrid, from February 3 to 6.
