The decision follows a further letter from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) registering disapproval, reports aroundtherings.com.
The broadcaster is said to be disappointed that the IOC has turned down a format that BBC officials thought had been once approved. The BBC was planning to videotape a panel discussion on January 27 in Turin, to air on BBC World two days later.
This month the IOC sent a letter to the cities informing them that even a panel discussion, with all five candidates on stage, at the same time, even with rules barring debate among the cities, would be considered against the rules of the 2012 contest.
The only programme format where the IOC cannot exercise control over the cities would be one where the candidates are interviewed individually by a broadcaster, who could then present the material in whatever way it sees fit.
