European rugby’s Heineken Cup competition has continued to set new attendance records following this season’s pool stages.
In all, 630,810 fans went through the turnstiles in the pool stages, 40,000 more than the mark set last season.
The 119,724 who turned out for the crunch round six matches last weekend was another Heineken Cup high, while NEC Harlequins smashed the previous best attendance for a pool match when 33,883 flocked to Twickenham for their pool four clash with Munster.
That was over 10,000 more than those who turned out last season for Leinster’s game against Cardiff Blues at Lansdowne Road.
