PARTNERSHIP TACKLES SUPPLEMENT CONCERN

A partnership between ATP and pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline began on the eve of the 2005 Australian Open in Melbourne to address concerns over supplements used by professional tennis players.

For the first time, the world’s top players, gathered in Melbourne, can benefit from a specialist range of sports nutrition products developed by the Lucozade Sport Science Academy (LSSA).

The products have been batch-tested for purity by an independent WADA-approved laboratory.

Lucozade Sport are providing ATP players in Australia with sample packs of products and informing them of how they can request a comprehensive starter pack and order subsequent product via a secure website.

The partnership, which also includes a comprehensive education programme, flows from recommendations by the ATP Task Force on Supplements, established last year to address growing concerns about the dangers of supplement contamination.
