HEARTS TO REDEVELOP TYNECASTLE

Vladimir Romanov, prospective owner of Scottish Premier League soccer club Hearts, has moved to block the sale of Tynecastle Stadium.

He has called an emergency meeting after an independent working party recommended that the club do not sell their present home but redevelop it instead, reports the BBC.
Romanov is set to buy out chief executive Chris Robinson, who had recommended the sale of the stadium.

That switch will not be finalised until February 4, but Romanov wants to exert his authority before then and back the findings of the Hearts Stadium Working Group.

The group headed by Lord Macaulay suggests that £100,000-worth of improvements would enable them to stay at their present home for at least five years.

But, although chairman George Foulkes gave the report a guarded welcome, Robinson is standing by the plan to hire the national rugby stadium at nearby Murrayfield until a new permanent home is found.
